Back in the US

Hi friends!
This is just a short update to let you all know that we arrived safely back in the US several weeks ago.

Thank you so much for your prayers for our final weeks in PNG and our safe travels back. God answered those prayers and we’re so grateful for His kindness to us! Our time in PNG was so good, and we’re thankful to have accomplished all of the needed tasks to wrap up our work there for now.

It was very hard and emotional to leave, but we also left feeling encouraged and hopeful that God will open the door for us to go back and continue our work there. Thank you so much for praying with us for new teammates and for each detail that is needed in order for us to return one day!

On our return trip, we transited through Brisbane, Australia, and we had a chance
to “meet” several koalas and kangaroos during our short time there.

Since getting back to the US, we’ve been getting over jetlag (which was really bad this time for some reason), making the rounds to visit immediate family, taking a short getaway for our fifth anniversary, and starting the process of settling into life in the USA for now.

Over the next 2 months, we hope to be able to speak with each of you who are currently personally supporting us through FinisTerre, so we can answer questions and give you a little bit more information about what we think our next steps will be. (We realize that many of you support us through your church as opposed to sending your support personally through FinisTerre. In the case of churches that support us, we’ll do our best to ensure that the pastors get an update and can pass that along. However, if you personally have questions or would just like to talk with us, we would be delighted if you give us a call. Here's the link for our contact info.)

To be honest, there is still a lot we don’t know. Here’s the short explanation though.

Long term, we plan to continue working to return to Papua New Guinea. However, we expect it will be several years before that happens. (Feel free to ask us more about why we think that).

In the short term of the next several months, we will be living in an apartment in Wooster, Ohio, working on contacting supporters, re-establishing our lives, and looking for work as we get close to going off of mission support.

So we have clarity for the next 3-4 months, and we know the long term goal we’re working toward.
However, there is a lot that God hasn’t made clear yet in between those two stages. Pray for us to be faithful in taking “the next right step” as God makes each one clear.

By the way, we mentioned earlier going off of mission support eventually. However, we’d be very grateful if you’d continue to support us through the end of June. We’ll talk more with you about our plans for going off mission support when we talk with you in person in the next 2 months.

Thank you so much for your continued love and prayers for us.
